For a developing country, the
industrial sector is involved as the most important part and need many
mechanical engineers for supporting these sectors. Mechanical
Engineering is the discipline that applies engineering physics,
engineering mathematics, and materials science principles to design,
analyze, manufacture, and maintain mechanical systems. The mechanical
engineering field requires an understanding of core areas including
mechanics, dynamics, thermodynamics, materials science, structural
analysis, and electricity.
In GTI(Mandalay), Mechanical Engineering
Department was reopened in December 2016. All GTI students have not only
theories also have practical. For first-year students, they study 5
minor subjects and 3 major subjects. Among them, workshop technology is
the most class time which includes both theory and practical. So
first-year students will know basic terms of mechanical engineering (eg.
operation of lathe machine, welding). In the second year, students
study 2 minor subjects and 6 major subjects. They study mid-level of
Mechanical Engineering (eg. Engineering Thermodynamics, Strength of
Material, Internal Combustion Engine, Production Technology, Theory of
Machine and Drawing). So they know what is Mechanical Engineering and
what they are doing. Among these major subjects, the internal combustion
engine and production technology subject are learned theory and
practical too. In the third year (final year of GTI), students are
studying only one minor subject and 7 major subjects. They study the
main subject of Mechanical Engineering like Refrigeration & Air-con,
Automotive Technology, Internal Combustion Engine, Control Technology,
Fluid Mechanics, Design and estimating. So all of GTI Mechanical
Engineering students know basically about mechanical engineering after
finishing the course of GTI. And then they have also the industrial
field for about 3 months. After that, we award AGTI certificate to the
student who was also passed the final exam.
Information of Year I
In this academic year, the students have to learn about three academic subjects and five technical subjects. The students can achieve basic concepts and skills of mechanical engineering.
Information of Year II
In this academic year, the students have to learn about two academic subjects and six technical subjects. The students can achieve technical concepts widely and technical skills of machines and automobiles.
Information of Year III
This is the final year for GTI students. In this academic year, the students have more to learn about the automobile and advanced technologies such as CAD, CNC, Control technology. End of this year, the students need to take an internship at industries/ companies. Some outstanding students have a chance to go to Technical Universities.
Mission
- To support the industrial sector of our country with skillful and qualitative technicians.
- To provide skillful and qualitative technicians for developing our country labor market.
Vision
- To change teachers centered to students centered learning.
- To get more linkage of school and industrial
- To get more Cooperation with the external industrial sector, technicians and school
Course Duration
The students have to learn the practical and theories of Mechanical courses at GTI (Mandalay) for 3-years. If the students have passed the examination and finished the internship, they get A.G.T.I Diploma Certificate.
